Getting Older

So, I have to say that my children are growing up way to fast!
Last week (after Ryan lost his cell phone and it had to be replaced) we finally caved a bought Kelsi her own cell phone. To say the least, she was very excited about the whole thing. I figure it's a money saver since it was only $10 a month and I was able to turn off the home phone that is $30 a month. She has unlimited texting and I get to control who can call her and how long she can talk. I know, I know, she's only 9- but with me at school a lot and Ryan at work, I think that it's better for her to be able to call us.
The next big step this week was Taylor moving to a big boy bed. He started jumping- literally- out of his crib. With the fear of broken bones on my mind, I gave up the crib and moved him to a regular bed. He was so cute about the whole thing. He put all of his blankets and animals on his new bed and was very upset when his sister laid on HIS bed. It's hard to believe that my baby is getting so big. He is such a little man and no longer a baby.

Stones and Bones...

So last week was... well, let's just say miserable. I spent the week trying to pass a kidney stone (yes, again for those who know me well). So, between work on Sat and Sun and school classes on Mon, Thurs and Fri, I ended up in the ER 2x for pain management. Ryan would like to point out here that if I would just keep the pain under control I might not have to go to the ER- spoken like someone who has never had a kidney stone LOL! Not to mention the fact that I don't function well, let alone have the ability to drive while taking pain meds. Anyways- the good news is that I passed the stone after a full week of torture on Sat at 3:13AM. Well, that covers the stones of my story... on to the bones.
On Sat, we had a roller skating party for Kelsi's 9th b-day (thankfully the stone had passed). Well, near the end of her party, she fell and broke a bone in her hand- Yes, we went back to the doctor. Thankfully, InstaCare deals with bones. The doctor is telling us they can't do much. So, we wrap it when it hurts and TRY to keep her from causing more damage to it. The doctor did tell us that bones in the hand heal quickly in kids and it is only a small break- thank goodness for small miracles, right. So, Kelsi thinks she is going to a friends roller skating b-day party this weekend... I haven't decided if I want to deal with that again.
They say that bad things happen in three's. Do I get to count going to the ER 2x as 2 of the 3? If so, we are so done ;O)

Our 10th Anniversary Trip

Ryan and I were able to escape this last weekend for our tenth anniversary. We went to Disneyland (of course) and spent some time in LA. We actually only chose Disneyland because our entrance fee was paid for- thanks Aaron and Amethyst. It was actually very enjoyable to go without kids. There was no need to worry about the I'm hungries, or I don't want to go on this ride I want to go on that one. We just spent time with each other and took it easy. I have to say that is was very relaxing. Not to mention the fact that I didn't even think about school and midterms for three whole days! The other nice aspect was that we took a flight instead of driving. This was wonderful- who knew that you could get to LA so quickly?!? It just isn't cost effective to fly when we take the kids. Jessica was very upset by the fact that we were not taking her because she had never been on an airplane- my poor, poor deprived six year old... someone please save her from such a wretched life LOL. Anyways, it was a great weekend and much needed for me and Ryan. Here's to looking forward to the next trip together- way, way, way in the future :o)

Aaron and Amethyst's Wedding

The wedding is done and over with! As much as I love my little brother, I am very grateful that he is married and on his honeymoon! LOL Wedding's are just sooooo much work. I am however very happy for both of them. They are very good for each other and Amethyst is a true blessing. I included some pics from the wedding. I really should have taken a before and after of Taylor- he was a mess by the end. The other two pics are of the girls and the girls with their cousin and Aaron (he's always getting as many loves as he can!)
Now that the wedding is over, it's back to life as crazy! (crazy is normal for us) I have midterms in two weeks YIKES! but at the same time, Ryan and I will be leaving on our 10th anniversary trip. I am really looking forward to it! It is kind of bad timing as far as school is concerned but it will all work out- besides I could really use the break. The idea of spending three whole days with only my husband sounds wonderful! It has been a long time since we have been able to do anything like this. I always said that we would go on a cruise for #10 but it doesn't work with the time constraints of school- maybe for our 15th?!?
The kids continue to grow like weeds and of course they always have some cute thing up their sleeves. It always amazes me the thoughts that come out of their mouths. LOL I am constantly laughing. I think that is the key to not losing it- laughter. They are looking forward to the weekend that they will be spending with Aaron and Amethyst while we are gone. Jessica asked me this morning how many days until she gets to have her "fun" weekend. I laughed and asked her if mommy and daddy weren't fun, she respond, "you're fun, but Aaron and Amethyst are REALLY fun." Like I said, laughter keeps me from going insane.

Mom's Brain is Sleeping

So this laugh comes from our 8 (almost 9) year old Kelsi. Last week I worked all night on Tuesday after going to school all day. Needless to say, when I do this I don't get much sleep on Wednesday because Taylor still needs attention. Kelsi came home from school on Wednesday and I was laying on the couch, semi-conscious, when she asked me to help her with a homework question. I told her that I was too tired to concentrate and she would need to wait for her dad to get home to help her. A few hours later when Ryan came home, Kelsi went up to him and said, "Mom's brain doesn't work today, so she said you have to help me with my homework!" I think that about sums up my children's ideas about mom going to school. Oh well, this too will pass, right?!? The picture is of her making a funny face a Disneyland over Christmas. It shows her personality to a tee.
