Taylor's Potty Story

I know, I know, it has been way too long since I last posted. Sorry, life has been crazy between finals and then starting a new term. The good news is that I passed all of my classes with the lowest grade being a B+.

Enough about school and on to my story... the other day I was sitting on the couch and Taylor says "potty"- I looked at him kind of funny (I know this because he gets mad when I look at him this way- I should just know what he wants, right?) So, he goes running up the stairs and of course, I followed. Needless to say he wanted to use the toilet. I proceeded to take off his diaper and put him on the toilet. He sat there and grunted and grunted- it was adorable. When he got off he was soooo proud of himself... until he looked into the toilet and realized that he had only grunted. This made him very angry and he stomped out of the bathroom. I was laughing so hard by this time that I think it just made it worse for him but it was pretty cute! I'm hoping that this means that he understands the whole toilet thing and maybe he will potty train early. However, he's going to have to learn to do more than just grunt.

A Very Special Daddy...

I know I'm a day late but hey, I spent the day yesterday making his day great! LOL! This blog is all about a very special daddy, Ryan! I just have to say that he is the most wonderful man! He is always so happy to play with the kids and help around the house. I love the way that the kids scream "Daddy!" whenever he walks in the door. He is compassionate and loving and I don't think I could have possibly married a better man. Going to school is rough, but Ryan makes it so much easier on me. He is constantly making dinner, cleaning the house, doing laundry and helping with the kids. Not to mention the moral support- whenever I get frustrated, he is a great cheerleader, encouraging to do my best and letting me know that I can do this. I thank the Lord everyday for giving me such a wonderful man, I still haven't figured out how I got to be the lucky one! Each day I fall more in love. I may not be a princess but I know that I have found my Prince Charming.

How old am I again?!?

So... I was told that I needed to blog this because it's just funny (you're welcome Maureen)
Last Tuesday, I was at the 7-eleven buying a slurpie with a classmate. Yes, I was buying a slurpie- they're very good. Anyways, I stepped off of the curb right into a pothole and completely biffed it. I managed to skin my knee and land on my left wrist. So, being a nursing student, I ignored the pain in my wrist until Friday when it hurt so bad that I could no longer stand it. Off to Insta Care we go, again, I think they know us by first name now. The doctor there felt like my wrist was broken and told me I would probably be in a cast for the next 6 weeks- (great!) Thankfully, I went to my family doctor today and he thinks that it's just sprained pretty good. (Thank you for small miracles)
So, now I have to ask... how old am I again? Because my knee matches Jessica's and she's 6 and Kelsi was calling dibs on signing my cast as soon as I got it and she's 9.
If you're not laughing yet, you'll want to know that I spilled my slurpie and had to go get another one. Man, I'm sure glad that I saved my allowance!!
P.S. I am not including a pic on this one! Don't you think I'm embarrassed enough?

Our Little Man

I had to laugh at Taylor this weekend. He is sooo stinkin' cute! The girls set up the kiddie pool at Grandma and Papa's house and were playing in it. Taylor was watching from the deck and laughing so Ryan put him in his swimsuit. This changed everything! Ryan tried to get him to go into the pool and he was terrified- apparently, it was much better to just watch. After a few minutes, Kelsi picked up Taylor and tried again to put him into the pool- Taylor was soooo mad. He was kicking her and screaming. Kelsi put him down and he proceeded to run over and get onto Papa's lap. Once there, he started to "tattle" on Kelsi in his baby talk. He was so upset at her that it was just funny. I included a couple of pictures of Taylor on Papa's lap "tattling" on his sisters. Papa is just trying not to laugh too much.

Jessica's Kindergarten Graduation

Jessica graduated from Kindergarten on Friday. It's hard to believe that she is getting so big. The kindergarten kids had put together a cute program with a bunch of songs. It was short and sweet- exactly how I like them! Jessica is very excited to now be able to call herself a 1st grader. I found some of the comments her principal made very interesting- Jessica is part of the graduating class of 2020. She is also in the first class born after 9/11. The principal also said that this is the largest group of kindergarteners that they have had in a very long time and the largest age group in the school. It was a cute program so I included some pics of her during the songs and then after with her diploma and with her teacher.
I would also like to take a moment to brag about my older daughter... Kelsi came home on the last day of school with a certificate and says, "my teacher gave this to me." I don't think she realized what it was. The certificate is congratulating her on scoring in the top 10% in the nation of third graders on her cumulative third grade exams. She was in the top overall as well as in math and reading. Makes me proud to be the mom to such a smarty pants :o)
